Pulkovo Airport receives industry’s recognition for marketing excellence once again

Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport, for the second year in a row, received European aviation industry recognition for exceptional marketing services. The air harbor of St. Petersburg became again the laureate of the “Highly Commended” award in the category of airports with the annual traffic of 4-20 million passengers. The awards ceremony took place at the Routes Europe forum in Hannover, Germany, on April 8-10, 2019.

In 2018, Pulkovo Airport served 18.1 million passengers, a rise of 12.4% percent compared with 2017, marking the airport’s historic record in traffic figures for one calendar year. The route network of Pulkovo was expanded by 20 new destinations. Four new airlines launched scheduled flights from St. Petersburg airport. Additionally, in 2018, Pulkovo, for the first time in its history, served the world’s largest aircraft Airbus A380.

During 2018, Pulkovo’s aviation sales and marketing team held more than 200 partner events, including annual LED Together Awards for the best performing airlines, seasonal presentations of new routes, inaugural flight ceremonies, airlines’ anniversaries, presentations of new aircraft and more. In addition, the airport provided extensive marketing support for airlines, including six external advertising campaigns as well as a wide range of contests in the airport’s social networks, fam trips, photo exhibitions, articles in partner magazines and more. The incentive programs of Pulkovo Airport, LED Route Development Program and Joint Support Program for New destinations together with St. Petersburg City government, provide carriers with bonuses.

The Routes Europe 2019 Marketing Awards recognize airports and tourism authorities for their outstanding marketing services, supporting airlines in the launch of new routes or the strengthening of existing services. The awards are voted for and judged by senior airline network planning executives. In 2019, following a competitive voting process, 15 airports and 5 tourism destinations had been named finalists.

Routes Europe is the largest regional meeting place for airlines, airports and aviation decision makers from the leading aviation organizations. It brings together route development professionals who wish to conduct business to, from and within the European region.
