COVID-19 prevention

Mitigation of crowds in the passenger terminal

According to the guidelines of the Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation, it is recommended to mitigate crowds in the airport in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In this regard, those who meet or see off are allowed to stay in the passenger terminal of Pulkovo airport for no more than 2 hours and are recommended, if possible, to reduce the number of people accompanying them.

Changes to the parking complex operations

Due to the pandemic of the coronavirus infection COVID-19 and the implementation by the airport of a package of measures to prevent it, the operation of the parking complex is limited:

  • closed short-term parking P3;
  • the shuttle to / from long-parking P4 has been temporarily canceled (until 31.12.2020).

Other parking zones are fully operational.

Changes to the international flights schedule

According to the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, from 00 h. 00 min. on March 27, 2020, scheduled and charter air service from Russian airports to airports of foreign countries and in the opposite direction was suspended. Exceptions are made for repatriation flights organized for Russian citizens to come back to the territory of the Russian Federation from foreign countries.

Resumption of the international flights

According to the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Federal Air Transport Agency, starting August 1, 2020, international flights from Moscow, Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don to Great Britain (London), Turkey (Istanbul and Ankara) and Tanzania (Zanzibar) are resumed. Starting August 10, 2020, flights from the mentioned cities to Antalya, Dalaman and Bodrum (Republic of Turkey) will be resumed. Flights will be operated by Russian and foreign airlines on a scheduled and charter basis. The previously introduced restrictions on the number of passengers arriving per day in Moscow and the regions are canceled.

Important! The airport does not decide on the launch of flights to permitted destinations. Northern Capital Gateway, the operator of Pulkovo Airport, will provide information on the resumption of the carriers’ international flight programs in the News section of the official website.

Information for foreign citizens arriving in the Russian Federation

According to the decision of the Government of the Russian Federation № 635-р, 685-р, 730-р, starting 00:00 a.m. local time March 18, 2020, the entry of foreign citizens to the Russian Federation is temporarily restricted.

According to the decision of the Government of the Russia Federation, the restrictions on entry of the citizens of the Great Britain, Turkey and Tanzania to Russia are removed.

According to the official information of the Federal Air Transport Agency and the requirements of Rospotrebnadzor, all foreign citizens arriving on the territory of the Russian Federation:

  • Must present medical documents confirming the absence of COVID-19 disease (in Russian or English), confirming the negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) COVID-19 lab test result taken no more than three calendar days before arrival in the Russian Federation.
  • In the absence of a medical document confirming a negative laboratory test result, foreign citizens must undergo a PCR-test on the territory of the Russian Federation within three calendar days.
  • Fill in a questionnaire in Russian or English on board the aircraft.
  • Foreign citizens may not be allowed on board the aircraft without a medical document confirming a negative PCR test result for COVID-19 (as decided by the carrier’s airline).

COVID-19 testing at Pulkovo Airport

Pulkovo Airport COVID-19 testing centre opens 24/7. The testing points are open for all passengers at the passengers terminal on the 2d floor and arriving passengers at the custom zone on 1st floor.

The PCR-test costs 2550 RUB. Payment by credit card only. You will receive the results within 48 hours by email.

Information for passengers heading to Turkey

According to the decision of the Ministry of Transport of Turkey, in order to ensure social distance between passengers during transportation and reduce the contact of the cabin crew with luggage, passengers flying to Turkey, hand luggage is prohibited on board. Exceptions:

  • Women’s handbags,
  • Men’s briefcases,
  • Laptop cases,
  • Baby diaper bags.

Northern Capital Gateway, the operator of Pulkovo Airport, deploys a set of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • An emergency response centre has been established at St. Petersburg airport for joint work on COVID-19 with airlines, state control bodies, local authorities and the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being (Rospotrebnadzor) .
  • Intensified cleaning and disinfection of all airport premises and touchpoints, including elevators, check-in counters, inspection areas, passenger steps and buses.
  • The air in the passenger terminal is purified using disinfecting units.
  • Special floor markings for social distance of no less than 1.5 m in the check-in, security and passport control areas as well as at the boarding gates.
  • Restraining seat stickers in the areas designated for passengers.
  • Hand sanitizers are available in the terminal. The dispensers are replenished regularly.
  • The staff of the airport is equipped with protective masks, gloves, antiseptic wipes and gels.
  • The airport’s first-aid station is located on the second floor of the passenger terminal.
According to the decision of the Government of St. Petersburg, masks and gloves are mandatory in all public places, including Pulkovo Airport.

Vending machines with protective equipment are installed at the entrance to the terminal, in the check-in hall, domestic departures hall and baggage claim area. Masks and gloves are also available in the airport pharmacies and shops.
